Turning 18 is a milestone for any teenager, let alone a royal, so when it comes the celebrating such a momentous occasion as the birthday of Princess Isabella of Denmark, there’s bound to be no expense spared.
As the eldest daughter of Denmark’s King Frederik and Queen Mary, the coming-of-age soirée is set to take place on Friday April 11, in the City of Aarhus ahead of her actual birthday on the 21st of April.
To mark the occasion, the Danish royal family will pay tribute to the host city’s creative youth culture with a sustainable fashion show focused on future materials and designed by Aarhusian makers kicking off the festivities in style.
The night’s entertainment will also feature performances by upcoming musicians and dancers, as well as showcase the city’s culinary, sporting and design talents.
Naturally, the esteemed guestlist will be filled with the extended royal family as well as 100 attendees from local youth organisations and education programs, plus the 50 lucky Aarhusians who’ll be given the chance to score an invite through a lottery system.

So how much does it really cost to throw a party fit for a Princess? As per the Aarhus Municipality, a budget of 290,000 krone, or approximately $69,000 AUD, has been set aside to ring in the 18th birthday of Princess Isabella.
While most of the budget (93,000 krone, $2217AUD) is being put towards the talented roster of local performers, the second most expensive line item is, of course, catering for the night’s impressive guest list. In addition to the must-haves, a total of 2500 krone ($5900) will be allocated to the service staff with another 22500 krone ($5365.50), going towards sound and security.

And while the details of the upcoming celebrations are well documented, one mystery remains: the Princess’ gift.
According to Tatler, the young royal will also receive a present valued at 10,000 krone, or $2384AUD, which given the special occasion, doesn’t feel like too much of a stretch at all.
Needless to say, the Princess will be also be looking forward to marking the occasion in a less official capacity away from the public’s prying eyes, as is her right.
