Kosovo PM criticizes Serbia for vote interference

(MENAFN) On Sunday, Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti accused Serbia of directly meddling in the nation’s latest general votes.

Addressing the press alongside Nenad Rasic, Kosovo’s Minister for Communities and Returns, Kurti asserted that Serbia’s actions were aimed at destabilizing Kosovo’s Political system.

He emphasized that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had directed both official and unofficial Serbian actors to involve themselves in Kosovo’s February 9 votes.

He further noted: "This intervention affected the election of Serbian and non-Serb community lawmakers, causing them to be fully under the control of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, his government, intelligence services, and organized crime networks."

The prime minister also spoke about the extraordinary measures Serbia’s state apparatus took to pressure rival Serbian groups, such as the Serbian List party, and electors from minority communities such as the Roma and Ashkali.

He revealed that certain delegates of Serbian political parties were forced to back out from the election race because of intimidation and threats.
